You've got mail...

Well my heart's still beating for now...that's a plus.  My old pumper is probably a little more beat up than this pristine looking one, but despite being a smoker my blood pressure is perfect (knock on wood).

Remember the Subhumans (UK)?  My good pal Greg back in high school was a huge fan of these guys and by proxy I was too.  Another one of those great bands where everyone rocks, but the front man Dick Lucas is just incredible...so essential in a good punk rock band.  This song was my boohoo song in the mid 80s whenever I had a gal problems.

Love is a bastard it tears you apart

Just when you thought you didn't have a heart

Couldn't give a fuck cause you didn't know how

And suddenly everything brings you down

Love is a bastard it fucks you up

Make up break up totally messed up

Lipstick stains and little white lies

Can you see the blood running out of my eyes?

Love is a bastard it makes you cry

Do something wrong and you don't know why

Can't remember what you said

Lie on the floor and wish you were dead

Poor Alfalfa...screen capture from the "Mail and Female" 1937 episode or what you may remember as the The He-Man Woman Haters Club episode.  So in love with Darla who had everything going for her, while he was the quintessential sap (wearing his heart on his sleeve).

My old high school chum Davrick and just a few of the credits to his name in the animation industry...so proud of him starting out at the very bottom and moving up to being a sought after editor in the field!

My virtual pal Eddie on vocals for this hugely underrated band, none of the members was old enough to drive (I actually got to see them at a party I mentioned Cameron Diaz along with a pic of her on a skateboard from the 90s and it reminded me of the four skateboards I've had in my life.  My first one was a cheapo Valsurf wooden deck shaped like a surf board with the little generic trucks and clear amber wheels.  Rode that thing on the sidewalk in front of my apartments on Reno street in the Rampart district of LA day in and day out.  I can almost remember the day clearly when I first learned how to jump off the curb. The next deck my Mom got me from an ad in the paper...can't remember who the deck was made by but it was the standard huge thing that weighed a ton from back in the early 80's, a pool deck with tracker truckes and Sims Snakes conical wheels.  That was my main mode of transportation from when I was 12 until I was old enough to drive.  My next deck I got in college from several friends who donated old parts to put together a pretty nice deck for getting to back and forth to school.  It was a beater but light and perfect for any pal who was willing to drag me behind their bicycle...my pal Sang lived with me at the time and he was kind enough to to do the dragging on most days.  I remember getting dragged by my pal Senon on one occasion down this steep hill, getting some serious speed wobble and subsequently wiping out hard.  My last deck, which I recently gave to my granddaughter was provided by my pal Big Bob of Agression (rip) that I traded him some old records for when I was living in San Diego.  Hardly rode that one at all except to sit on with my Son on my lap and go down this gradual hill in front of the last apartment I lived in before moving to Kansas.

My college pal and former bandmate in Grout, doing his one man band thing called the Leftoverking that he's been up to for decades.  Love this tune and when I put it on fucking youtube I just knew this image from Seinfeld was perfect to go with it.

Probably the greatest love song ever written and Black Sabbitch fucking nails it...the drummer I swear must be like Bill Ward's daughter or something, cuz she really captures the true beauty of his drumming.

Alright now!

Won't you listen?

When I first met you, didn't realize

I can't forget you or your surprise

You introduced me to my mind

And left me wanting you and your kind

Oh, yeah

I love you

Oh, you know it

My life was empty, forever on a down

Until you took me, showed me around

My life is free now, my life is clear

I love you sweet leaf, though you can't hear

Oh, yeah baby!

Come on now, try it out!

Straight people don't know what you're about

They put you down and shut you out

You gave to me a new belief

And soon the world will love you sweet leaf

Oh, yeah baby!

Come on now, try it out!

Oh, yeah!
