Lethal Dose Of Life

A Charlie Brown Apocalypse...I would pay to see that cartoon.  Not sure who the artist is, but I'll be damned if Snoopy isn't right there by his side.  Let's see what Mr. Pickles is up to...pre-apocalypse planning I'm sure...

Yup as I thought...planning and I have a feeling that it will be a sad outcome, but everything looks sad to a Bassett.

This was on one of the Bullshit Detector comps, although this is the album version from a few years later, but it still resonates heavily with me. Been listening to this for almost 40 years and have never quite figured out all the lyrics, but sure enough they are out "there" (a little Mustard wisdom for you, beware "there")...

What can you hold in your hand when you die?
What are you missing when you don't even try?
Can you see the future written on a card?
It might not happen, but it's ever so hard
How can you own when you don't own you?
How can you decide when you don't know what's true?
What do you see in the rest of your life?
"I see prosperity," it's ever so nice
What do you feel at the end of the day?
What do you think do you mean what you say?
Can you talk to neighbours, do you have to shout?
Have you ever wondered what it's all about?
What do you see in the palm of your hand?
What will you do with what you have found?
Have to go soon back to where you came
Will we remember even your name?

When you're in the shit, some might say, it will get better, but having been there, I am sometimes tempted to respond...it will probably get worse.  Fucked up my knee on my 16th birthday playing soccer for the high school team (I sucked hence JV...yup old Mostaza was briefly a jock, although unless you're really good, futbol is not too jocky).  Hurt like a mother fucker when I did and I did it good, some serious damage, but the post op reminded my that the worst was yet to come.  You're supposed lay in bed with the leg elevated, but when you get up to take a piss or shit, all that blood runs back into the wound...worst pain I ever felt.  Whenever a doctor asks me what my pain level is at between 1 and 10, I have to preface my answer with the understanding that in my min 9 and ten are reserved for amputation type shit...this was as close to 9 as I ever want to get.  Then fucking crutches for 6 months. Funny, not haha funny but my surgeon was a field surgeon in Vietnam and told me one visit, because I was wearing an army shirt, that if I was planning on a military career that I couldn't pass the physical much less go through boot camp.  Interestingly enough I was planning on a military career...hahahah.

Didn't know they had a live version on fucking tube...always impressed by "electronic" music being done outside the studio.

Perfect representation of my thoughts as I find myself waking up to 2023...regardless brothers and sisters, I authentically wish y'all nothing but the best in the year to come and at the least improvement in whatever you might think floats your boat...cuz a floating boat should be a bare minimum.  Cheers to those who have been tight throughout the year...

Boasting

I've seen Snoop Dogg 3x and dig him or don't, dude puts on a hell of a show...serious performer!

During our GW reunion earlier this month I found out something I never put two and two together on...we were THE weed band.  I mean, most of the local bands we were hanging out/playing with were stoners and just general partiers...One Man Running had a bitchin song called Resin Scraper.  Then when I was hanging out with the other Weasels, HAF, I realized damn, we had several tunes involving the enjoyment of Mary Jane and references to her in plenty of other songs.  In retrospect, holy shit the refer has been a big part of my life and go figure early on that it would end up in the music we played. I shoulda just stuck with the weed.  Somewhere there's a video of Little Chris (RIP) singing along to Boasting, at a show we did somewhere on the Arcata Plaza. Brian wrote the tune and prior to his enlightenment I had never heard it called that.  Wherever you're at, right the fuck now, why don't you get with some good company and boast a bowl with them.

Stoned again stoned again I think it's good

Stoned again stoned again I think you should...

...boast a bowl with me

Here's my boast buddy these days!

I'm not sure why I went incognito on this one, not too sure sometimes why the fuck I do a lot of things. This is sPot (intentionally spelled that way), like me she has a poor metabolism and sometimes gets called Fatty.

Speaking of Resin Scraper, here's OMR doing it live on KHSU circa '91...the flyer that for some reason I used for the image on this one, was a badass show...this maybe the one where we were asked not to come back....hahaha.  What a rad lineup though and at the Jam of all places.  It was an over 21 club, which I got into once because Pope Joan said I was the tambourine player, but that's a story for another time...good times.  This was the 5th time I posted something on the fucking tube...10 years ago, man (time flies but airplanes crash).

"Responsibility is a heavy responsibility man." - Cheech

It's very close to that time of the year again, when the so-called season is almost fucking over. The two best things about Christmas are posting a GIF of Krampus and the song below.  I'm a Grinch of sorts for socio-economic reasons, but I gotta say that when I was in Washington earlier this month I was quite impressed with the decorations that both Brian/Carol and Ed/Tina had at their pads...reminded me of Christmas as a kid going to my Grandpa's place...he was a little younger than we all are now (which in itself trips me the hell out).

A headline from USA Today, the other day..."Winter storm Elliott? Blizzard? Bomb Cyclone? What Happened to calling it 'weather'?"  I don't know what the fuck a bomb cyclone is but I the lowest I recorded the temp being for this event was -10 and a wind-chill of -36...highly unpleasant. As I continue to age and somehow survive (my Guardian angel is beat) I've found that I don't like any extremes of temperature. It used to just be the heat, but I don't much fucking care for being cold and certainly no -36 wind-chill.

Her jeg igjen - begår denne dåd

Stien går hit - hvor timene står stille

Stien tar meg med - dit hvor årene går

Jeg bygger her - et monument - her skal - neste døde råtne

Her jeg igjen - skal føle denne lyst

Her jeg igjen - begår denne dåd

Stien går dit - hvor timene står stille

Tar meg med - dit hvor årene går

Årene går

Årene går

Årene går

Really feeling this groove right now...Norwegian Black Metal has healing and uplifting properties. Used to have the 7" but not sure if I sold it or sent it to my Son. Always wondered if these folks were of the fascist variety, but did a google translate and I'm kinda digging on the vibe.

A darkened path - winds - inwards towards - the black hill

Where I again - shall feel this pleasure

Where I again - commit this deed

Takes me there - where the hours stand still

Take me with you - where the years go by

Here, priest - and layman - have faced the great - the great test

Here I will again feel this desire

Here I again - commit this deed

The path leads here - where the hours stand still

The path takes me - to where the years pass

I build here - a monument - here shall - the next dead rot

Here I again - shall feel this light

Here I again - commit this deed

The path goes there - where the hours stand still

Take me with you - where the years go by

The years go by

The years go by

The years go by

Two Gifs in one post...hell fuckin' yeah...I don't fuck around.  Since I'm not fucking around, and we're on the topic of Norwegian music and being colder than a well digger's ass...how about Blitzkrieg Baby doing something Mustard Relics played a tiny part in. In fucking fact, the first person to comment on this post and sez they dig the composition will get a free copy...

This is what Kim and Trine had to say about the tune...

VIOLENCE is the studio recording of the one unreleased, non-album track that was performed live at Dominion Of Flesh in Stockholm, November 2019.

The physical edition consist of a 7 inch lathe cut limited to 28 copies, released by Mustard Relics label. Only 10 of these copies will be available to order and those will be distributed by Cloister Recordings when time is due.

I shall leave y'all with this prayer and wish y'all much merriness until the end of the year and then it can just go to shit again in 2023...haha...take 'er easy!

Garden Weasel - Stoner Fetus

I was on a mission from God and with the help of Senior Chief Brian F, we were able to get the band back together!  Cheers to Steve B and Ed C for making it a true reunion...the hospitality...the comradery...much love guys.

Lock up the Dingdongs and hide your corn
I was taking bonghits before I was born
I'm so godamned hungry I could eat a horse
I got the munchies and I got no remorse
Mom sucked down all the loads she could afford
and they cruised on down the umbilical cord
Smacked me a good one upside my head
boy I got high if you know what I'm saying
Mommy got stoned and watched Starsky and Hutch
Thanx a lot mommy yeah thanx very much
You made me what I am the day the day you gave birth
to the ugliest kid on the face of the earth
Mom sucked down all the loads she could afford
and they cruised on down the umbilical cord
Smacked me a good one upside my head
boy I got high if you know what I'm saying
Stoned in a stupor zoned out on my couch
watching reruns of Starsky and Hutch
I'm a mindless slob at a factory job
I've got no future and my name is Bob!

He That Watches They

I think this picture says a lot about me and my life...I want to say that this isn't the life that I chose but it's exactly fucking that...I am that guy...haha.  There's probably many of us out there, but as Crass said in the song Big A Little A...
Be exactly who you want to be,
Do what you want to do.
I am he and she is she,
But you're the only you.

...as I said in the last post. "We shall be seeing more of Billy Nomates around here, just you wait and see."  Love this bassline and the song itself is so fucking me...
ah fuck it i quit the future
immʼa live in the past
what’s it to ya?
things where better
i was younger
a little thinner
cos i has hunger
silver platter future
you have spoiled your youth
they have debilitating choice
they got a megaphone for their unheard voice

back in my day i had nothing
we lived in happy misery
we lived in happy misery
we lived in happy misery
ah come off it
those machines are gunna eat you first
i want no part of the modern world
cos that bubbleʼs gunna burst
i remember the summer of 81ʼ
i was tanned and sleeping with everyone
i got a job in the factory around a month later
i lived off 80 pound a week for that gruellin labour
but we actually danced on a friday night
we smoked inside the pub and we started old fashioned fights
well thatchers britain it was hard it was grim
but i only wanna visit the places iʼve already been

back in my day i had nothing
we lived in happy misery
we lived in happy misery
we lived in happy misery
Unfortunately I did not properly announce it the minute I started using it as a header, but "asi es la vida", as they say, and nevertheless, I'm proud of the new art done by my multitalented and brilliant pal, Josh Hanson.  How fucking perfect is that, it pays to surround yourself with wonderful people!  Josh is a former Humboldt resident and for the life of me I can't remember how we reconnected, probably in the circle of hell reserved for facebook users.

My pal Erio, former fellow vocalist of WD-40, sent me this vid a while back of his Son's band, Rad-X doing a GBH cover...not fucking too shabby gentlemen!  That's his boy on guitar...

Check the article @ "Red Hot Chili Peppers Interrupts Tour to Play Free Closed Concert in Hoopa
By David Garrison and Allie Hostler, Two Rivers Tribune."  This (the picture above is from one of their first shows a long time ago) was attended by a host of different friends from the old Humboldt days and was quite the event not only in a Humboldt sense but also in the grand scheme of things.  My pal Gage, the first person I met when I moved into the dorms in college, has been the tour manager for RHCP for quite some time now.  When I heard about it the day before the show, I texted him, "Nicely done Gage!"  His response was, "Thanks man. I'm a nut for doing this."  :)

Just put this up on the fucking tube...you can't go wrong with a little One Man Running

I encourage y'all to read the The Garden Weasel Diaries if ya have minute or 60.  Anyway this may be my favorite tune I ever did with them...again not too fucking shabby...in my book...if I do say so myself.

Red flame Green flower
Psychedelic Fucking power
Coming from the dirt Who does it hurt
The mellow criminal Is not a cannibal
No death is dealt No hate is felt
The wrong is right Like a green light
Numb body Mellow mood
Glutton hungry Fucking food
Coming from the dirt Who does it hurt
The mellow criminal Is not a cannibal
No death is dealt No hate is felt
The wrong is right Like a green light
it sez go...to...
A place that's real
Where you can feel
A burden released
Need no red lights
Block cannabis rights
It can't be policed
Back watching Eye popper
Behind bars Fucking copper
Dim Future Sleepy head
Good citizen Fucking dead
Back watching Eye popper
Behind bars Fucking copper
Dim Future Sleepy head
Good citizen Fucking dead
Coming from the dirt Who does it hurt
The mellow criminal Is not a cannibal
No death is dealt No hate is felt
The wrong is right Like a green light

Been sitting on this post way too long...let's wrap it up...this goes out to my pal Ellen Magnolia!
