This here is about the coolest animated gif this old man has ever seen. A little foreshadowing as in the next post I'm going to be talking about bugs...hahah. Not the kind below that I found wandering around my back porch...a Sphinx Moth?
Is it me or do we tend to make things more difficult than they have to be (I know I have an extreme tendency to do that and am tryin hard to turn that around). The phenomenon of texting to communicate, is the most ridiculous way to carry on any kind of involved conversation. 2 minute phone call = 1/2 hour texting and it's just an inferior way of exchanging information between people that know each other. I like getting texts from the tow truck driver telling me he's five minutes away...ya know? I wonder if there's a way to make it so that when someone texts you, they get an auto generated message saying, "this phone number only takes calls." God damn I think of some silly shit sometimes...first world meaningless hassles :) How about some good music to mull over instead...
Love these old lip-synched performances and these guys clowning around while doing...classic!
I love the first album, but this one speaks to me in a deeper way, every song a hit, and it has this song, which I know I've posted before, but it's easily my favorite Beck tune.
Put me in a hole in the ground
With the money and the towel
And the women all runnin' around
Can't complain about the mess
Momma killed the only dress
Now she's longin' for the pines
Watch my troubles all unwind
Drinkin' gasoline and wine
Catch a chill off the stove
On the train, they cannot feel
Lost my head beneath the wheel
Now she steals my body home
The trees are fake, the air is dead
The birds are stuffed with poison lead
And the ground is much too clean
And if it's only me who's scared
Strap 'em to electric chairs
Ring the moon like a broken bell
When she drags you from the hill
Daddy's gonna burn down the still
We can watch it from the rooftop
Lay in to the fryin' pan
Now she kisses her own hand
With the fiddle on the fire
I took a leap into the fog
Sleepin' on a hollow log
Now I'm coughin' with no mouth
You can keep yourself inside
But you know you cannot lie
When the devil's your only friend
Absolutely no recollection of this event, but frying and flying can do that sometimes. All the RotR events that I went to kind of blend into one memory for me...tons of topless hippie gals running around, everybody passing joints and good jams. God, that was 35 years ago now!
Got me in the mood for some irie stylee, so Prince Far I it is. It's the dudes voice that really captivates me, so unusual and so real.
My good pal and fellow bandster in Humboldt County during my tenure there from 87-94, Jess, sent me this GIF. First thought besides cool kitty, was I love Bush baked beans (w/o bacon).
Two of the four bands here that Jess played bass in (the others were Thee Shatners and The Hi Fives). This split album is pretty fucking good and Jess is a beast of a bass player. Brent's TV & Appliance was sort of the leader of the pack on this sort of general genre, Humboldt 90s Garage Punk Revival ala The Headcoatees.
We shall end this post with what YT's algorithm deduced that I would want to listen to after the above album. I'm not sure about that, but I loves me some SPK and especially this recording in Lawrence Kansas 1982, baby. My bro Ki got to work with the great Graeme Revell in the early 90s I believe on the score and soundtrack for one of the Chuckie movies. Anyway, as always my friends, farewell and I hope you wake up in the morning.
