The almighty Grout went on after I got married and moved away (to San Diego in '94), and proceeded to tear shit up. When one of the guys sent me this demo, it was obvious that me leaving the band (and Humboldt) allowed them to really define their sound. My brother since 7th grade, Matt, wrote the lyrics to about half these tunes, while I wrote one and split duties for writing another with Matt, my favorite song, Deranged @ 10:15. The progression of bands was WD40, Garden Weasel, Grout and then bam, The Hitch, who were pretty big in the area from the late 90s to the 00s. On this realease it was Jeff (g,v), Ty (b,v) and Steve (d,v)...

The Great Grandson and yours truly at the pumpkin patch this month. The littlt big man, as I call him, had a fucking blast! Dude was asleep before I got out of the parking lot...hahah.

One Man Running, was my favorite band of all the bands I saw while I lived there. Green Day from Southern Humboldt (I believe), got huge, but having seen both bands live in the early 90s, OMR should been the ones to get huge...10X the band (and personalities) GD were. We played with these guys A LOT! I wouldn't be surprised if between the parties and venue gigs, we didn't play together 50X. They let me sing the song "Resin Scraper" (not on this demo) at this outdoor party, but I embarassingly butchered it. Their cover of Steve Millers (Jet Airliner" is pure fucking gold! Shit, you may as well listen to the last tune after that, total hit. Moss (g), Chuck (b,v), Morgan (d,v)...

@ the 14:01 mark is "They Came To me" which was always my fave track, but just now listening to again, DR. Jeckyll and Mr. Christian Scientist @ 21:13 is slamming. Take the musicianship of NoMeansNo and put a heavy metallic edge on it. Out in Manilla at the "chicken coops" where our practice pads were, they had the mansion of pads. Wild group of guys, probably saw them play 30 times and was always blown the fuck away...they were this tight live! Chuck (v), Marten (g), Nick (g), Andy (b), Darren (d)...
