Well today is my birthday and this time 'round it's the big Four Oh. Most people I know who have reached this milestone before me seem to get into a funk about it, but I haven't really decided what to think of it yet. To be honest with you, I feel like I'm lucky to have made it this far in life with all the shit I've been through, so everyday has it's own kind of special value. Coincidences sometimes happen and they seem to happen very often in my life, so much so that I'm starting to believe when people tell me that things are the way they are supposed to be. Not really, but my last post was a Stooges/MC5 post and the next morning I found out that Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton had been found dead. In honor of him and my year of birth you get my favorite Stooges tune.
Along with the birthday idea I give you the gift of what I consider to be one of the best hardcore 7"s ever and a true gift to anyone who can appreciate good music. Even if you don't like that whole "ska-core" thing, which I do really dig, especially from these guys, you can skip those two tunes and listen to some other ones that represent hardcore at it's finest. While they were together I think they only released this 7" and an LP but later on more stuff started to surface, bootlegs and what not. When you put it all together you can pretty much get a discography by going here, here, here, here, here or I think this guy's got just about everything here. As the Pukeskywalker states, most of the other stuff is poor quality bootleg crap, but in my opinion this 7" is definately worth your time. I was fortunate enough to see these guys in 1987 or maybe 88 but I honestly do not remember them too well. They played with Isocracy, Crimpshrine and maybe somebody else up at Humboldt State University in a room that no longer exists. I know I had several bros there but the only two I remember are Gage and Slam. You can get the usual history of the band thing from Wikipedia. If you know these guys you know what I'm talking about, but if you don't, at least give "Hoboken" and "Here We Go Again" a try. Let me know what you think
