Give 'Em The Boot 2

This is just a cool comp on Hellcat Records released in 1999.  You can get the whole thing here, http://www.hell-cat.com/ .  Good record label site.  I like these mixed comps where it's not just one music type even though there is a general flavor.  This one has that reggae hardcore feeling going on and has several songs by Rancid or it's band members contributing to other singers.  I am not a big Rancid fan, even though I saw them at one of those Warped Tour all day kind of things with like 10 or 15 bands.  I can't remember most of it because I was too drunk.  I liked Operation Ivy a hell of a lot more and got to see them in Humboldt at HSU along with some other not so good Lookout bands.  I remember this wanna be skinhead local thought he was going to steal Slam's boots.  I was going to let him try but I decided to save him an ass beating.  Early on before Slam would decide to be your friend he would put you in a pretty brutal choke hold until you passed out.  I'm sure a lot of my friends remember that.  After that you were a friend for life.  This is still in print so I'm just going to post my favorite songs.  Maybe you'll like a song or two.

Infest - Slave

Well I've been wanting to do this post for a while and without a doubt Infest was my favorite hardcore band.  If DRI had not of crossed over, and don't get me wrong I like some metal but DRI sucked at metal, they would have been doing the stuff Infest did.  Two old buddies of mine from junior high Ron K. and Bob K., after high school, got me into these guys when they first came out.  I have most of their stuff on cassette.  Later on I got the split flexi with PHC and the Live on WMFU.  Ron and Bob were some pretty nutty characters in the LA hardcore scene back in the late 80's.  I wish I had access to their collections or was even still in contact with them.  Match is my only friend that would know or remember them.  These guys would go to shows anytime anywhere as long as fast music was being played and they were always making bootlegs.  Fenders in Long Beach, parties in East LA or Pacoima, the Olympic, wherever.  They would get their asses kicked and still come back for more.  I have all kinds of stories about these guys but I will save them for another time...

One Man Running - 05/91

Well here it is 2008 and it's butt cold in Nowhere Kansas.  If you are unfamiliar with Nowhere Kansas, check out one of my favorite cartoons, Courage the Cowardly Dog.  On top of everything else my heater blower went out on my car, which among other things leaves me without a defroster so I have to leave the window cracked so the windshield doesn't fog up.  Not much good going on for me right now except my friends and this site.  Ed did me yet another huge favor and sent me some more One Man Running.  He said, "these are from the KHSU benefit at the Beer Gardens.  I think the date was May 9th or May 14th, 1991."  My memory is pretty much like bobbing for apples, but I just have a good feeling about my memories of this band.  I remember one of the many parties we played together, I got the chance to sing the song Resin Scraper with them.  I wish I had that song to share with you, not the one I sang on though.  That party was at one of Dawn and Cathy's houses, on the west side of West End Rd, in the garage.  One thing about some of the bands in Humboldt County is that we would play anytime, anywhere, all the time.  Well enough of that, enjoy a song or two...
