Final Conflict (Minnesota) - Demo 1983

 Kim and I just got done watching a 10 part series on Serial Killers and I don't think I was right in the head for a few days.  Found this pretty wild painting.  Can you name them all?  He just looks like a tired old man now. Consider this part one of a two part post.  Greg of Voice Of Destruction had commented on my very old and very lacking DRI post, and had mentioned wanting to hear some Final Conflict as he had written to them back in the day.  Now there are two or three bands at least with that name so I had assumed it was the SoCal band that I was very familiar with.  While doing some research though I came across some really great stuff from the Minnesota band Final Conflict and not being sure which one he was talking about I decided to go with that on.  Expect the next post to be on the SoCal band because I went ahead and ripped their first LP real nice for you and came across their demo.  Now the Minnesota band is pretty scarce but I did find a little mention of them at the MNPunk site.  The tunes from the demo were not labelled very well, which I tried to fix, but there's still a lot of missing song titles.  Rock out with these and if you want a starting point go with track two my personal favorite (which is actually two songs).

In The Family The Lines Have Faded Your Self Defeated  EDIT: My buddy Erich over at Good Bad Music left a comment about the above rips and offered up his as a comparison.  Get those from him first hand here.  He makes quite a statement in that post that is well worth a read if you're into the whole dynamic that goes on with these music blog thing-a-ma-jiggies.  I think MR may fall into the category of blogs that are lacking but I totally recognize my short comings.  I don't pomise you anything more than a little bit of subjectively decent music along with my own opinion and maybe a little take on my boring life.  I'll say it again though Erich, thanx for the quality rips and allowing me to steal them so they can be posted here.  :D

 

In The Family The Lines Have Faded Your Self-Defeated  Looking further it turns out that they did some tunes on a comp record that you should really check out not just for this band but for the others as well.  The always awesome System Sabotage Chaos has the Lung Cookies comp for you here and I snatched the Final Conflict tunes from there for your listening pleasure, but they may just be the demo versions anyway.  Ask Curious Guy over there and be sure to tell him Mustard Relics sent you. Nazareth - Hair Of The Dog

  The old lady woke me up at 6am this morning to a little surprise.  We only got about 2 inches but first thing this morning in the dark, it was blowing around pretty hard and you could hardly see.  I gave her a ride to work because I don't like her driving when it's shitty out and I'm being nice to her because our anniversary is tomorrow.  ;-)  I was so tired that I couldn't understand why the head lights weren't working on the car (covered in snow and ice).  With the wind it's butt cold.  Well Kim mentioned something about Nazareth's Hair Of The Dog, prompting Brian to request more cowbell, which Jeff thought was pretty funny, so here we are.  Definately a classic but not one they play on our local classic rock station enough.  In case you don't know what hair of the dog is, it's a drink the next day to help the hangover.  It actually works quite well.  I'll tell you when I made that a regular practice it was the beginning of the end for me as an alcoholic.  When you start drinking in the morning it's easy to go from being a functional alcoholic to just a plain old drunk.  When it got really bad for me I knew which liquor stores were open early and how far I had to walk or drive (or ride my bike after my truck was stolen).  Airpalne bottles, pints, fifths, multiple fifths a day, all day.  Certainly a low point in the loserdom I called my life and one I hope yall never have to suffer through.  Dig the song though. Beastie Boys - Live CBGB's 11/20/82

 I have these problems with sunglasses.  One of the medications I take makes me sensitive to light so if it's bright out I gotta wear them.  I can't afford nice sunglasses so the ones I get are usually in the $5-$10 range.  The thing about cheap sunglasses is that they tend to snap right down the middle when taking them off and on my fat head.  Just a side note, the fatter you get the fatter your head gets, there is a direct relationship.  Anyway I ordered some sunglasses in the mail that are of the safety variety so I thought they would be durable enough to handle my cranial circumference dilemna.  On top of that they were less than $10 postage paid.  One thing about ordering by mail though is that you don't get to see what they look like on.  So what do you think?  I put them on and my old lady Kim had this look on her face like she wasn't sure if she was going to smile or frown.  Sort of puzzled but the first words out of her mouth was, you'll get used to them.  Appearance is pretty low on my list of things that is important but I wanted to see what my homeboys thought.  If anything, I'm not out a lot of money and not only am I protected from the suns rays, I am also safe from flying debris.  Do yall know who these guys are?  Hint, they are the two constant members of what was always three guys. Just a short one for yall as I just did a post on the Beastie Boys.  My bro Brian, loyal follower and a true Mustard Relics had mentioned in a comment the Young Aborigines, a pre-Beastie Boys band.  I did some looking around and couldn't find any recorded material which certainly doesn't mean it doesn't exist.  While I was looking though I did find some more from the B Boys that seemed post worthy.  So with the intention of being semi complete as far as their hardcore stuff, here that is.
